Storm King’s Onslaught is one of the five Mythic Storm King schematics, so it comes from a Mythic Schematic Cache earned by defeating the Twine Peaks Mythic Storm King with the correct quest active.
Storm King’s Onslaught is the Mythic pistol forged from the Storm King’s eye. Its defining behavior includes a barrage of homing projectiles. The key thing to understand is that you cannot select it directly from the boss: you earn Mythic caches through the Storm King weapon loop until the set is filled.

- Complete Twine Peaks Storm Shield Defense 5.
- Complete King Me and Regicide for the first Mythic weapon run.
- For later runs, complete the current Scions of the Storm King weekly quest.
- Defeat the Mythic Storm King while the weapon quest is active.
- Pick up the Mythic Schematic Cache and return to Homebase.
- Check the awarded schematic. Continue the weekly loop until Storm King’s Onslaught is unlocked.
Why Storm King’s Onslaught is different
When you get Storm King’s Onslaught, you receive a permanent schematic rather than a temporary mission weapon. It fills the fast sidearm role and uses Energy Cells, with the homing behavior making it mechanically distinct from ordinary pistols.
Storm King’s Onslaught is a Pistol. Upgrade, evolve and perk the schematic like other permanent weapons, but remember that Mythic Storm King weapons have unique behavior from level one.
You cannot choose the weapon from the cache
The route to get Storm King’s Onslaught is collection progress, not a weapon-selection menu. Each eligible Mythic Storm King clear gives a Mythic Schematic Cache. If this exact schematic has not appeared yet, continue completing the weekly prequest and boss clear.
Do not waste a Hero or Weapon Voucher expecting it to unlock this schematic. Mythic Storm King weapons are outside the normal voucher path.
The first clear and the weekly loop
Your first chance to get Storm King’s Onslaught comes through King Me and Regicide. After the first clear, the repeat loop is Scions of the Storm King, followed by the weekly Defeat the Mythic Storm King quest.
Always check the weekly quest before the boss. Beating the boss without the active reward quest can leave you with no Mythic cache even though the fight itself was successful.
Can another player drop this weapon for you?
No. Epic designed the Mythic set so another player cannot simply drop the weapon from their Backpack and bypass the progression. To get Storm King’s Onslaught, your account needs the schematic reward.
Teammates can help with the encounter, but the unlock belongs to your own account and quest state.
